Tooperang Observing SiteASSA runs observing nights south of Adelaide for members once a month. These are held at Tooperang Hall approximately 60km south of Adelaide on the Meadows to Goolwa Road. TelescopesA variety of portable telescopes are used at these sessions. Members are encouraged to bring their own equipment, although this is not necessary. Getting to Tooperang HallTake the Victor Harbour road to Mount Compass. Then turn left by the Mt Compass Tavern onto Nangkita Road. Follow this road for several kilometres (passing through Nangkita) until it ends in a T-junction at the Meadows to Goolwa road. Turn right at this T-junction and continue approximately 2km southwards; passing Hunts Rd (dirt, on your left) and the Tooperang turnoff (on your right). The Hall is about 200 metres south of the Tooperang turnoff; just past the church on the left (eastern) side of the road Weather AlertViewing nights will only proceed if the weather is suitable. If in doubt, confirm by calling (08) 8338 1231 before travelling to any observing session. |
