Meetings & Public Lectures

Starting in February 2021 the Society plans to hold in-person meetings each month with approved COVID Safe Plans in place. Our meetings are free, open to the public and visitors are most welcome to attend. Please note that the Society is moving to a new meeting venue (The Braggs Lecture Theatre) in 2021 which facilitates wheelchair access and live streaming of our meetings.

General Meetings

General Meetings are held at 8 pm on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) in the Braggs Lecture Theatre, University of Adelaide (North Terrace Campus). Please enter The Braggs from the western doors.

General meetings often feature a guest speaker, and often also include the presentation of astronomical images and/or observation reports. There's usually something of interest for everyone.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, tea, coffee and light supper will not available after the main General Meeting.

Please note that for security reasons, the entrance to The Braggs Lecture Theatre is likely to be locked at 8pm sharp. So please ensure you arrive well before the meeting commences.

Astronomy Education Sessions

Astronomy Education sessions are short, focused presentations aimed at the beginner and intermediate level. The sessions cover a different topic each month.

Astronomy Education sessions start at 7 pm before General Meetings, and are also held at the same venue.
