ASSA@Home | Astronomical Sketching & More…

Watch on YouTube or Facebook.

Summary: Martin will discuss astronomical sketching and the use of different approaches from raw to hybrid sketching of objects as they appear visually in telescopes to digital simulations of telescope views. An often overlooked benefit of sketching is that it helps visual observers to significantly improve their observation skills. Martin will also describe how various materials and other items can be readily found and adapted for use by amateur astronomers, often at very little cost.

Bio: Martin Lewicki is the current serving Light Pollution Officer for the Astronomical Society of South Australia & leads the Dark Sky special interest group and committee member of the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve. Martin has had many years experience as an astronomy lecturer and is now the resident educator at the Adelaide Planetarium. He still uses his home-made 6-inch reflecting telescope he made in 1974 to observe the night sky.
